Dear Sujib,
Through a column in your prestigious magazine, I would like to share my experiences of my recent visit to an art gallery. The special feature of the art gallery is that it exhibits the art of blind people.
The art gallery named Inner Eye is aptly named as it showcases how visually impaired artists from different parts of the country express their inner vision, perception and sensations through paint and brush. These artists are visually impaired but they can convey the perceptions seen with their inner eyes.
The painting exhibition was inaugurated by the eminent art critic Hiren Pathak.
I was stunned to see the paintings. The themes of the paintings ranged from corruption, climate change, poverty to mythological tales such as the Ramayana and Mahabharata and our freedom struggle.
The works of some of the artists displayed a mixture of styles like traditional Madhubani painting style with modern art, Kangra Valley art with western styles etc. Postmodernist tendencies were also observed.
The management of the art gallery deserves congratulations for the splendid work done by them in promoting the works of blind artists.
The government should also take necessary steps to promote the works of such artists who create amazing paintings despite being visually impaired. The exhibition was truly inspiring, inspiring and a splendid example of the potential of man.
Thank you
Your loving Friend,
Shoaib
